As per microsoft confirmation, next version of office 2019 (Productivity suite) would launch later this year and its compatible with windows 10 only.

Microsoft had originally annouced the office 2019 at Ignite last year and as per recent confirmation, Microsoft has said that next version of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook & skype for business will become available in the second half of this year (2018). Before the release of final public build, a preview build of this app will launch in second quater of 2018.
Microsoft Office 2019 will only work on Windows 10, So who ever are still using Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 or Older Windows version would not able to upgrade or Install the new version of the Microsoft Office 2019.
Microsoft Oddice 2019 will run on any supported Windows 10 SAC release, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2018 and the next LTSC release of Windows Server. Microsoft is also making changes in the Installer file of Office 2019 and it will be Click-to-Run instead of MSI files, which will become exclusive to office server products.
With Office 2019, Microsoft will also Introduce a new standard and extended support schedule, and unlike in the case of its predecessors, patches won’t be shipped for a total of 10 years. Mainstream support will be available for 5 years and extended support will be offered for 2 Years only.
Also support for prevision version of Office won’t be affected and the extended support for office 2016 will ends in 2025.
“Modern software not only provides new features to help people do their best work, but also new, more efficient manageability solutions and more comprehensive approaches to security. Software that is more than a decade old, and hasn’t benefited from this innovation, is difficult to secure and inherently less productive. As the pace of change accelerates, it has become imperative to move our software to a more modern cadence,” Microsoft says.
